|
|
Question: Is a short term visa extension possible with an exiting ticket??
A co-worker of mine said that short term extensions are possible if we make a trip to the immigration office...our manager will accompany us...and if we produce our tickets for departure.
We're up on the 10th...exiting the 14th after the Mud Fest.
I'm also going to have our manager call immigration later this afternoon...I'm just looking for anyone who has had experience with this type of situation.
Any info would be appreciated to help in my preparation. |

Yes, it is possible.
The application is called a "Temporary Extension of Stay for Departure of Registered Foreigners." From the HiKorea website:
Quote: |
This application is for registered foreigners seeking short-term (under 30 days) extension of their stay for travel or other miscellaneous purposes after completing their original business. |
The required documents are listed as a passport and an airline ticket showing the departure date. There is no charge for this type of extension.
Of note, this extension can also be obtained ONLINE, without a trip to the Immigration office. Unfortunately the page is not linkable, but from the HiKorea homepage (http://www.hikorea.go.mr), click "E-Application," then choose "Temporary Extension of Stay for Departure of Registered Foreigners" from the General Guide.
I obtained this type of extension online last year (December 2007); the process was quite simple and the application was processed within 24 hours. I was given a certificate to print out and present with my passport at Immigration departure control at the airport. |

I have also personally done it at the immigration office.
Walk in, fill in the application form, present your ARC, passport and ticket.
Wait 10 minutes for the paper shuffling, get the mark on your ARC and leave with the extension dated the same as your airline ticket.
No fee, no problem, no boss necessary.
