Well up until now my director hasn't taken taxes from me but it is my last month and now he says that all my taxes will be deduted from my last pay at 5%. I have checked EFL law and it says i should only pay around 600 000 on a 2 million won salary which is much lower. I have pointed this out but my co worker who is the only english speaker says that they don't follow korean law, only other contracts from our franchise. My contract says 5% or less according to Korean law. I have never had any deductions for pension etc and am wondering if this 5% includes everything. I have asked for a reciept of tax numbers but my co worker says this is impossible. I am not prepared to pay more unless i get these receipts. Does anyone know of a site where i can find it written in clear english exactally what i should pay in this situatuion. My director is a fair guy and if i can provide him with proof i'm sure he will take it but EFL law only gives examples not specifics.
or is there a hungal website that can show him how to tax me as i'm sure he is confused since i am his first foreign teacher and he has no accountant.
Thanks |

If you e-mail EFL Law about this they will tell you to go to your local tax office to straighten it out as they did with me. |

Your boss should have a kind of a graph where it shows how much tax you pay. My boss showed me his, and it has a whole bunch of stuff that can make it cheaper for you. He should have the initiative to get in touch with the taxation office and sort it out.......Is it me or is initiative non-existent in this place???????? |
