Anyone into salt water tanks? I'm looking to start a small one but have not found a fish/pet store that sells them. Anyone have a salt water tank set up in their apartment? Where can I get some clown fish and the whole works? Thanks! |

There is a slew of them along the North side of Cheonggyechon (river) in the Dongdaemun area.
Find Dongmyo on the brown line. Exit the exit heading South. Walk straight until you see the river (maybe 200m?). On the side of the Woori bank (North side of the river), you''ll see pet stores all lined up next to the Woori bank. Can't miss it. |

I have seen a small tank set up at E-Marts but I just assumed they were displays as there were no stocks of any salt water creatures. Thanks for the info! |

I'd love to set up some tanks here... just too much effort and too little space. |

A couple years ago I got this email address off the large salt water tank in the bookstore just next door (walking in the direction of Yonsei Univ.) to the McDonald's at Shinchon (# 240) subway station:
"TheSaltWaterFishSource - AquariumsUnlimited!" <[email protected]>
I vaguely remember contacting the fellow and that he was pleasant on the phone (sorry, I can't locate that no. now), but I never did set up a salt water tank. I stuck to my fresh water fish: goldfish, etc. from my friendly neighbourhood 'have a soju with us' aquarium shop...Goldfish? Yeah, kinda mundane, I know, but they are hardy! |

I'm a saltwater aquarium enthusiast. I started with a 20 gallon nano thank when I was in college in Illinois but moved to a 75 gallon tank in Hawaii. Unfortunately, it was too much work and too expensive to maintain. You would think running a saltwater tank would be easy in Hawaii but there are a lot of special federal laws that make it difficult.
When I came to Korea, I looked into it briefly but decided against it. If you are looking for a simple fish only tank, you might be able to do it. Unfortunately, I think having corals is half the joy of a saltwater tank so I decided against starting one here. You say you want to have clown fish and if that's it, I think you should be fine but if you're also looking for an anenome to pair it with, you might have a more difficult time.
You might want to do a search at http://www.reefcentral.com if you haven't already. It's a great forum for saltwater enthusiasts. |

Yeah, I left my 44 gallon tank with a couple of clown fish that was paired, green bubble tip anenome, some some other corals. For sure, when winter hits, I would like to have a small tank in my small apartment. Thanks for all the info....I'll check it out this weekend. |
