Does anybody know if having a new electronic item shipped over is subject to an import tariff? I remember reading something about it before i came over but i can't find anything specific on the internet.

Just to clarify: I am thinking about having a new microsoft zune shipped over since they are not for sale here yet.

thx in advance

Yes, they ARE subject to import duties and taxes if you "import" it but NOT if you bring it with you as a personal effect.

http://english.customs.go.kr/

center bottom portion of the page:

* What Can I Bring In?
Save Your Valuable Time and Money With This Guideline
* Shopping on the internet / Duties & Texes In Korea

* How Much Should I Pay
Let the Automatic Calculation Service Estimate Your Duties and Taxes!

It will probably be duty free but subject to the 10% VAT.
