|
|
Do any of the women on here ever wear capris or past-knee length shorts (nice, not cargo shorts or anything) to work?
For reference, I work at a public school in a rural area.
Yes, I could just look at my coworkers, and I have yet to see it, but it's not really hot here yet (hasn't gotten above 78/25), so I'm not sure yet. Plus, I have seen other foreign teachers here wear them at schools, but those work at English towns, and I'm not sure how different the dress code is at those. |

I saw a (Korean) teacher at our public high school in long shorts the other day. I must admit, I was a little shocked to see her in them for some reason. They were proper long shorts, but it was odd.
I would think that when it gets hot, it would be ok to wear them, as long as you wore a nice top and shoes. |

Why not simply ask your school if it is okay? The dress code varies from school to school. |

Personally, I wouldn't ask my school if it's okay--I'd just do it. I don't want them thinking that I answer to them any more than necessary. If they don't like it, I'm sure they'll mention it to you.
If they are presentable/dressy enough for a business environment, and if they're longer than some of the skirts that I've seen Korean teachers sporting, I don't know why they wouldn't be acceptable. |

In the 5 public schools I've had classes in, I've never seen it. |

I've noticed it's the opposite here when compared to back home, at least in schools. It seems that women dress alot more casual, many of the women teachers wear jeans to work. But, the men tend to wear at least khakis and a collared shirt as a minimum, in most cases. |

I have yet to see any female (or male) teachers in shorts or 3/4 length pants. They dress pretty casually at times in jeans or cargo pants, but always full-length. The skirts are never any shorter than knee-length either.
Edit: just went to lunch & the school nurse is wearing 3/4 length denim pants - skin tight of course & worn with a dressy top with lots of frills & sparkles as well as her high-heeled slippers. She almost pulls it off too, if only she was 20 years younger... |
