Hey there, I will be teaching at a summer camp from July-August near Seoul, and when I am finished I would like to find work ASAP in Seoul for my partner and I. Should I bring extra copies of my criminal background check (certified by appostille?) as well as extra transcript copies? Since I am there already, will the school I will work for in September refund any money of my plane ticket? Is it easy to just "cold call" schools like that, or should I focus more on what is advertised in the newspapers? Are there any hostel like places where I could crash for a few days until found work?
If anyone has advice for a newbie trying to find work while already in Seoul, i would appreciate it!

You will need to bring extra copies of all your documents. (Clue: EVERY time you apply for a new job you will have to submit the same documents...again and again.)

No, I highly doubt any school will pay for your flight once you are here. You can always ask, though.

The best job here I've ever had came from cold calling around, so it can be done. You will have to undergo a lot of frustration if you don't speak Korean. Also, schools will be closed during summer vacation. How will you contact the schools? In my experience at two schools, the secretary is only around for a short time each day when school is not in session.

Someone else will have to tell you about hostels.

Advice: Don't show up in jeans and a t-shirt.

It would be a good idea to bring extra copies of your transcripts, CRC with apostille(s), and your original diplomas/certificates. As for refunding some of your airfare, I suppose its possible, but I would consider it unlikely. Cold-calling schools, especially adult-schools is a good idea as there are academic directors and teachers you can speak to.

just found out that I wouldn't be able to get my E2 visa since I would have to fly back to Canada after the summer camp and apply for it. Sigh, guess I won't take the summer job and just figure something out for August.
