OK, I'm a 36 inch waist or 90 centimeters and wear a Korean XL in shorts as they're about the size of western L size, but often the sales people won't sell to me if they don't have one that reads XXL which is usually the case. I can wear the XXL since there just cheap shorts I wear on my time off, but they often refuse to sell to me what I want. Do they think I should wear over sized clothing or just simply do not understand/accept how I shop? I get the gist that there trying to do what they think is the right think and mean nothing discriminatory.

Today, I tried to buy a pair of XL camo shorts and was denied sale. I went nearby and bought a pair of XL kakki shorts and then showed the camo guy they fit since my room is nearby and he stilled declined to sell the camo shorts I wanted as he didn't have XXL that he said I needed. I'm very sure he believed I was too fat as he gestured this to me. I then put one end in the small of my back and wrapped it around my waist to my belly button and there was 2 extra inches to spare, but it appears he was still saying it's too small for me and I'm fat. I'm not fat, but a filled out westerner nor an XXL size and can wear the Korean XL perfectly fine, but he still declined so I said I was going to Emart-uh. Why do they not just leave me alone and operate a business in a neutral manner selling anything I want rather than acting silly about it?

I feel really bad about saying that to a small 5 day market seller as that's not good for relations, but it frustrates the hell out of me to be declined something that is for sale. The Koreans don't seem very desperate to sell what they have to offer unlike the SE Asians who push hard to sell anything and will sell anything you want they have to offer with no problemas or questions asked and in a respectful manner. This happened to me many times last year in Korea with numerous small sellers at markets like today.

How do I go about shopping outside the big box? I went many times and still don't get it as to why I have all these issues with shopping outside of big box stores.

Haha~

I have a friend that has a clothing sponsor based out of Busan (company called Soulash). I asked him to pick up a hoody for me since he could get me one for cost.

I tell him that I wear a large and he looks at me like I'm from Mars and says, "but...me...I'm a large...how?" So I insist that I only wear a large (hell I used to wear all mediums but gained some weight in Korea) and he says, "ok ok ok." So a week later we hook up and he gives me the hoody...it's xxl and fits like a dress.............. Rolling Eyes

When I first came here I was 6"0 and 165 lbs. Even then I had people in the Dongdaemun outdoor market and at various stores refuse to sell to me or show me anything because of "NO SIZUH" It was seriously retarded.

I would try just saying that it is for a friend / a gift or something. I do most of my shopping at the moment at the smaller market places around where I live now and have never had problems buying what I want (and I don't speak a lot of Korean at this stage).
