Is it possible to go to a hospital without insurance? How much does it cost? I have an appointment already made this weekend for something that I really need to get done this weekend, but my co-teacher has been sick and so I have been unable to pick up my new insurance card.
If I *have* insurance, but don't know the number or anything, is there any way for them to look me up? |

You could be okay...maybe...
Basically, I was in kind of the same situation. Wanted to go to hospital, was paying for health insurance but hadn't been given the card yet. When I went there (not hospital actually, but tiny little clinic) they were able to look up my name on the computer and confirm I had the insurance. I've never had to show them the card after that.
The problem is that you need to know how you were registered, in other words your Korean-ized name. And you need to communicate all this to them. I went with a Korean, so it was all pretty easy for me.
And of course, even if you can get insurance, you can still use the hospital. Just costs a bloody sight more. |

Yeah, I'm paying for the insurance (as of Monday), but I do not have my card yet.
If I PM you with my name, could you maybe give me a guess as to how they might have Korean-ized my name?
For what it's worth, the doctor I am seeing there speaks fluent English. Do you pay first, or would she be able to help me? It's a smallish hospital, FWIW.
And how much more? |

if the dr speaks E they will help the staff check your name on the computer
don't worry about your name - they'll also use your ARC number as well. just tell them you forgot your insur card and didn't bring it - then offer up all the id you have.
if no one speaks E ask for someone who does, or the dr you mentioned. just be patient. |
