right, so i work in a kindy hagwon, one one speaks english and im the 1st ft they have had- no curriculum etc. driving me crazy, anywho i have some health problems now, minor ones, i basically need to see an ent doctor- i said to my co teachers who spoke with the director, they wanted me to go to some kids father whos an ent doctor. They called him and said that hes not working today, and i must meet him outside some flats tomorrow morning at 7am as I dont have health insurance.
Id rather not wait that long, and i dont want to be running around meeting anyone at 7am. Can i see a doctor here without health insurance, im willing to pay within reason. |

You're able to see a doctor without health insurance. It often throws them for a loop when you first arrive at reception as, to my knowledge, every Korean has it and they're not used to ppl who don't. But, as long as you have your ARC you should be fine - they'll enter you on the 일반 system - which essentially means tourists or foreign workers employed by cheap bastards system. It's usually about three times more expensive without health insurance than with, regardless the health system is very affordable here so it shouldn't be more than 50,000won hopefully.
Also, as with most things are here, personal medical information has a way of finding itself to be known by your boss. So, if your situation's personal or you just don't want your boss wanting your medical info, I'd recommend not seeing a hagwon kid's dad or anyone associated with the boss. |

nah, nothing personal, just cogested ears which are well annoying, dont like the thought of waiting around another night to get it sorted. I need an ent doctor. That said, I dont want to get into the habit of visiting a kids dad with my boss slipping him a backhander. Might say ill sort this myself tonight by appearing at a hospital or whatever. |

I've gone to many ENT's here and basically you give them your ID and then they put you on a sliding scale for payments. The first payment is usually high but if you have to bee seen for an ear infection that lasts a week or more the payments are usually around 12,000w per visit. You could also opt to go to the catholic church and get their health insurance. The hospital that takes their insurance charged me about 8,000 per visit. Church insurance is only $6 a month. |
