..3 months.

When it came to getting my new E2 for my University job I was originally told I would have to travel home to get my degree verified as I had been fined the previous year. After further discussions they told me that as I was working for a University I could use the KLUE (Korean Council for University Education) to do this in Korea and then get my visa in Japan.

I now have a friend who is in the same position but his job isn't at a University and so can't use KLUE. Anyone know if there is any other way to do this in Korea and so save on an expensive flight back to the UK.

Thanks

I don't recall reading or hearing anything about the KCUE validation being restricted to teachers at universities. After validation, you are eligible to take a visa run to a 3rd country like Japan or Thailand for your 1st E1/E2 visa. Where did you find the restriction on use of the KCUE?

on the website is states...

Quote:
The service is limited to verification requests for official purposes by legitimate post-secondary education institutions, businesses, government agencies, and other similar organizations

Reading "other similar organizations" I'm unsure if this means they could be used for a stardard Hagwon job. I wanted to know if anyone had been in a similar position and used them for this.

Would normally just call immigration and ask them myself however my previous experiences with them would lead me to believe I would prob get 4 different answers from 4 different people!

When I was going thru this in March I was twice cut off from the agents on the phone. When I eventually got thru to someone I took my 20mis of protesting to get her to go and ask one of her collegues, and then get the information that saved me a long flight home and about a million won.

I had my degree verified by KCUE in August. I work for a hagwon. My employer took care of it. I was issued my first E-2 visa in Bangkok, Thailand shortly after that.

I interpret the quote from the website to mean that a legitimate business can make a request for verification. A hagwon is a legitimate business.
