The subject of employee turnover in the field of education has come up in some posts here. I'm including the links of some sites reagrding this discussion. In the US for instance, the average employee turnover across all industries is 15.6%, whilst the average in education stands at around 17%.

A more detailed discussion of the differences in employee turnover between east and west (in this case a study of Japan vs. the UK) can be found at the following:

Are you talking about foreign teachers or Korean teachers or both?
The fist boss at my last job was really awful, so we were going through teachers left and right. Some stayed a month, some 2 or 3. (korean teachers)
The other foreign teacher quit after 2 months, but the new teacher stayed to complete his contract, as did I.
After I was there about 9 months, the school got a new boss and things seemed to get much less stressful. The Korean teachers stopped leaving in droves and the school started to get to be a better place to work.
It just goes to show what difference a good boss can make. |
