Has anyone ever heard of a substitute teacher service? I am heading back to the motherland for the holidays and need a foreign teacher to cover one week of full time classes(Jan 5-9) and maybe some part time (Dec 22-30). I live in Mokpo and have asked just about everybody and their mothers down here with no luck. People have mentioned an 'emergency teacher' service that can find people to substitute in hagwons but I can't seem to get any hard evidence of its existence. If anybody has any leads...that would make my day....

I've heard of them, almost worked for one in Daegu once. It would have been highly illegal, though, thanks mostly to the technicalities of Korean visa law. An E2 visa holder can only work legally at the location(s) which their visa is registered to. Possibly holders of some other visas could do this work legally, but it would be unlikely to be worth their while.

I would doubt if there's such a service, legal or otherwise, in Mokpo, although you never know. Good luck!
