I have been offered a job with the Incheon school board through Korean Horizons. The recruiter I have been speaking to is called Alistair and seems really nice, but he said the school board doesn't even require an interview. Is this legit?
The job seems good, but I would just like your input on this. |

No interview? That's a huge red flag IMO. |

Korean Horizons is brand new, to my knowledge. Yes, Alistair at Korean Horizons is a great reputable recruiter from England, but with an awesome bilingual Korean president to tie the knot with the Koreans in communicating and negotiating the deal. They seem to have very good karma, but will want you ASAP as any recruiter does though that's not a deal breaker if you need more time to close matters at home as this is one long trip (1+ year away from home) you're embarking on. I went through him recently and I would rate him top notch though like any recruiter, he can't know everything about a job out in the field. He's based in Changwon and is very competent at his job of setting a job up and processing the visa on his end. He is recruiting for PS jobs as far as I know and EPIK Gangwon-do is one of the big projects he has going on right now though I'm sure he's recruiting for many other jobs. He will listen, communicate, and help you if you need anything more than a legitimate connection to a job such as getting any issues worked out, be it a housing issue or anything else. Just tell him when you can come and what you expect, within reason, and he will do a good job for you and the school. For EPIK PS jobs, no consulate interviews are required right now and you probably won't be asked anything else other than to submit your documents, be sure you want to do this, and get on the plane to do it.
This was my experience with him recently. He's new and I was just going on gut instinct after speaking with him as there were no reviews or anything said until now. He seems to have a great outgoing personality too.
I say to give him a good try in your job search. He worked well for me.
Thumbs up to Alistair.

Wow, thanks. Any other opinions on the matter would be much appreciated too though. |

These are not opinions, but facts as I experienced them recently. Nothing is bad about Korean Horizons or Alistair to my knowledge. I only had a glitch with no housing being available upon arrival, but that problem has been solved and had nothing to do with Alistair, but was a lack of communication within the PS system where the local district was not told about my arrival or assignment until I arrived. I was provided a nice hotel room upon arrival. Last minute kind of communication and planning is extremely common in Korea and no bad intentions were intended.
I say to go ahead and try Alistair, if he has a job you want, then take it, work with him on the preparations, and go with it. Good luck to you. |

I'm neutral on Alistair. He didn't seem very communicative, maybe he was busy at the time. I decided to go through some one else. |
