Do I have enough time to go from Qingdoa/Weihei, into Beijing then take the fast train to Tibet, if I only have about 8-10 Days?
I'm hoping to get into Tibet to work in an orphanage for a couple days. Unless someone can point me in the right direction of one in China in one of those two cities, where for some volunteer work they will give me a bed and some food. Of if someone can even tell me of someone I could ask...
Thanks |

Qingdao to Beijing is about 6/7 hours by train.
Beijing to Lhasa (Tibet) is about 47/48 hours by train.
So yes it is mathematically possible to position yourself in Tibet during that timeframe, however it would be rushed.
Both of the above trains are daily, but whether you could absolutely guarantee yourself a ticket is another issue. Sometimes Chinese train tickets are only released 10 days in advance of the departure date, so if you are not flexible with travel dates it could be problematic. |
