First, if anyone knows anything about Gimcheon College in Gimcheon, shout it out.

More broadly, though, are colleges reliable employers? I'm considering a summer camp job, but cannot find anyone with experience there.

Google searches and other research indicate that it is a bona fide institution, but I suppose that's no guarantee that they won't go acting a fool... Mad

All sorts of institutes in Korea use the term 'college'. There's even a children's academy chain called Kids College. Gimcheon College could be a diploma-granting technical college licensed by the government, or it could be kindergarten with 20 students.

In general, yes, but there are still dodgy colleges and unis. Hell, even being a NATIONAL uni isn't a guarantee that it's a good place to work. Do your homework.

in Korea if you are in fact working for an institute of higher education, that may not be enough to guarantee a good job.... there are definatley dodgy colleges and unis as someone already stated, or unigwons set up under the name of a reputable university

really name doesn't mean a thing, despite what Koreans would have you believe (the reason for naming schools Yale, Oxford, or Harvard English Institute....and the other academies using the "College" title)
