The CDC have their own suggestions of what vaccinations that I should get. What do you recommend Confused ? I have been told Hep A, Hep B, TDAP , Typhoid, and Flu shot.

I wouldn't worry about the flu or typhoid... the rest are or should be on your to-do list.

Typhoid is a non-issue here (drink bottled water) and get the new influenza shot in the fall when everyone else does. Last year's shot may not do anything for you.

I think he was being sarcastic.

Get your vaccinations here. Much cheaper.

When you go for your physical, you can also get an extra urine and blood workup checking for the vaccinations you need.

Isn't Japanese encephalitis the one transmitted by mosquitos?

Understanding the double (racial) meaning of the term but within the context of the thread (and ignoring the smiley wink)

Yellow fever

Yellow fever is a viral disease that has caused large epidemics in Africa and the Americas. It can be recognized from historic texts stretching back 400 years. Infection causes a wide spectrum of disease, from mild symptoms to severe illness and death. The "yellow" in the name is explained by the jaundice that affects some patients. Although an effective vaccine has been available for 60 years, the number of people infected over the last two decades has increased and yellow fever is now a serious public health issue again.

Yellow fever is not required IF you are coming from North America/US/NZ/AUS but can be required to show proof if you are transiting via central Africa or central America, especially if there is an active outbreak.

ALL my Korean friends, and I have many, refer to their skin as yellow. My African-American friends refer to themselves and friends of similar ethnic heritage as black. Insults can be made insulting more by tone and context. I'm Italian-American and my friends often refer to me as the wop of the bunch...but I know they're joking because they're friends. Koreans do the same thing calling their friends dog-baby (S.O.B.) in a friendly manner, while reserving the harsher tone for anyone that pisses them off.

That said...I respect Korean girls, have dated some great ones, am now dating a fantastic one, and can without hesitation, say that I MOST CERTAINLY HAVE YELLOW FEVER.

Just search for a travel clinic in your area. Set up an appointment, they will know exactly what you need.
