I'm wondering if you more electrically inclined people could offer some advice. I've got a lamp(for medical use, so isn't a case of buying another one), which is designed for 230-250volts.
Would it work in an ordinary plug socket or do i need a transformer/adapter/converter?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

220-250 VAC will work just about everywhere EXCEPT North America.
It will work fine here in Korea.
You may need a plug adapter (if you don't want to change the plug end).
They can usually be found at most hardware stores, stationary shops or the street side of the Nanjin arcade at Yongsan.
