Bassexpander, congrats on the new podcast. I listened to the one with Yu Bum Suk and it's really good. I like that it's not just another biatch fest like my former Seoul Survivors podcast (and to a lesser extent Joe's SeoulPodcast). Not saying there isn't a place for a good rolling biatch fest. I think it's great to let off steam and warn future teachers about what they're going to have to develop a sense of humor about fast.

Anyway, look forward to listening to the rest and future.

Thanks, MMT, I appreciate it. Your podcast gave me the idea to get started! I'm working on upgrading to a studio microphone with even more quality. I'll still use the Zoom H2 in the field, though.

If memory serves, people can hear MMT's site by clicking his WWW link, right? The page wasn't coming up for me today.

That H2 sounded good enough to me. It might be a little off-putting if there's a big difference between the sound quality in the studio and in the field. I'd rather hear podcasts with roughly equal quality through-out.

Or just go www.gokorea.info.

I used like $4 Cosy mikes I bought at technomart for my podcast (3 plugged into my laptops single mike jack using 2 splitters). It was pretty ghetto.

I like you're sort of bringing some Dave's ESL'ers on board. One of the things I like about Joe/Jennifer's podcast is they're interviewing a lot of bloggers. To wit, they're really showing there are a lot of very cool people "in your neighborhood". Despite the perception ESL teachers are all losers, SeoulPodcast is demonstrating quite the contrary.

If I can make a suggestion, get on more Dave's users on your podcast and demonstrate Dave's users might be full of piss and vinegar here but are really pretty cool people with cool interests offline.

I think it's one of those brilliant ideas that nobody got around doing until this. With a few of the creeps causing persistant problems on this site (I see our porn spammer is back this morning) I can see why people wouldn't like to reveal their identity, but this is an unobtrusive way to get to know posters better without giving the Geslers, Aisainminds, et al., all your personal info. While I wasn't surprised that a few people found my interview rather mundane, I was quite surprised that a number of people found it very interesting. But then again, I'd probably find it really interesting to hear interviews with Dave's members who've posted lots of stuff I've found interesting to read.

Yeah, I bought a more expensive mic, which sounds nice, but not a big enough difference to merit the $$. I returned it. I picked up a used Shure SM57, which sounds nice (Bush uses that, as did Michael Jackson when he recorded Billy Jean). I don't necessarily need that one either, but I want a couple of good mics for interviewing more than one person at once. Used price was nearly half of new and they're known to be virtually bullet-proof for many years. I have a small mixer board in my office. I have a crappy Shure 818II that cost 12,000 won. It's a bit too different than the SM57, but would suffice.

Off to interview whistleblower.
