The Chosun Ilbo is considered the most conservative newspaper in the country. They strongly supported 2MB during the campaign last fall. Over the last month I think I've detected a change in the paper's attitude toward the president.

Do you get the same feeling?

On June 2 they published this:

Of greater concern is the fact that there is no one to regulate and rectify these problems. A sign of this situation can be seen in the chief of the presidential office criticizing as "inadequate" a government plan to deal with soaring oil prices that came out of a prime ministerial meeting. At a meeting of presidential chief secretaries, participants are said to have voiced concerns that the chief economic secretary did not appear to be in control of the situation. There was also talk of disagreements between the head of the presidential office and the chairman of the National Competitiveness Reinforcement Committee over who controls deregulation and other mid-to-long-term economic policies. Cheong Wa Dae and the government are out of sync, while even the groups within the presidential office are not operating in tandem. In other words, nobody is in control of economic policy, which is why this administration appears so shaky in its handling of the economy.

That's a critical article, but not extreme. Compare it to these two from yesterday and today:

The incompetent and irresponsible Lee Myung-bak administration, of course, is mostly to blame for a situation when religious groups feel again called upon to cross the fences. The administration's blunders cannot be denounced enough. Blame also goes to a divided ruling party that has forsaken its mandate to represent the public and opposition parties that are chasing street protesters while abandoning the proper forum where the public has elected them to work.

Time for the President to Eat U.S. Beef (July 3)
The incompetent and irresponsible Lee Myung-bak administration is primarily responsible for the mad cow disease uproar, unprecedented in the world. The government, after taking no steps when unimaginable scare stories caused lots of repercussions, hid itself behind the riot police after the protests spun out of control.

I'm getting the feeling that the editorial board has withdrawn their support. Further, it looks to me like they are pushing Park Geun-Hye to step up. This is from July 1:

Park is among a few politicians who still have the trust of the public in these tumultuous times. It is only if she uses that precious asset for the benefit of her country�s future that she will gain in stature.

Idle speculation can be entertaining.

What about this: Park gets appointed Prime Minister and then 2MB resigns, making her president. Would the lefties sit still for that?
