|

| I'm kinda crazy about poker. I even paid $50 for my heavy luggage so I could bring my clay chips with me to Korea. Anybody know where I can buy a poker table here. I don't think it's gonna be easy to find, but I gotta start looking somewhere. Any info is appreciated. |

Where were you when I lived in SUnae?
I was at the HAnsol Infinity desperatley trying to get a poker game going.
YOu didnt need to waste money on your chips though man, they sell them cheap online in Korea.
Anyway, I never knew where I could get a table,
but The homever *back when it was Carrefour, not Homever) in Ori had The Rollerblades you are asking about when I lived there in 2005. I got a great cheap pair for 39 000 that I still use. |

I posted the same thing about two months ago and got no response. if you find a table let me know too.
I too brought my chips and love to play. so, I had my korean friend check the internet and she has found several "holdem clubs" in and around seoul where I get me fix with very loose aggressive koreans.
the clubs operate under the guise of board game rooms. I have played tourney's for 20,30,50, and 100 buy ins. their chip style is a little different but it makes for fast games. sometimes there are big tourneys with up to 60 peeps and an 1800 payout for first prize. I got fourth out of 65 and the payout was 200 on a 30 buy in.
when i play the small sit n go at the clubs they pay top two and take quite a large cut for the house.
where are you? I know of a couple in gangnam, incheon, bucheon, and northern seoul. |

what do you want to know? I've been going to one regularly in bucheon, and Ive been seeing them pop up all over the place. one in gangnam was a little larger but I dont know if they're still open do to legal issues. i havent asked too many questions because I know the legitimacy is questionable. I just go, play and leave and they dont bother me at all. they do try to work together a little bit if I have a big stack but uinderstanding the korean terms for poker really help one to understand how much info they actually give away at the table. and this will also help you know when they are colaborating and bluffing you (which they will do endlessly until you prove yourself a decent player at which point they wont go into pots so much with you). Asia is has a lot of luck based culture which becomes evident in poker when you're all-in with the nuts on the flop and someone is chasing runner runner anything to beat you.
play cautiously if you go to these places because many just want to get their money in preflop because 66 or even 9Jsuited looks great to them.
Ive been going for a while so if you have more questions... |
