|
|
I've heard of this recently from a teacher, but can't find anything on Galbijim or google about it's location.
I just arrived in Gangwondo a week and a half ago and want to get some coffee gourmet coffee grounds and other groceries next weekend.
What else is available in Gangneung foreigners enjoy?
This will be my first trip there so I'm lost on where to go as I haven't found any information. I will be updating the Galbijim wiki as I get more experience and knowledge of Gangwondo.
Thanks in advance for any info. I'm located in Jeongseon-gun in a small town. |

Darn, I couldn't get anything out of that. So the Terarosa coffee doesn't have an English site? I clicked many hangul links, but they're broken.
The maps lack to the point of being useless. Thanks for trying to help anyway.
Maybe, I will just go to the city center area and look for any foreigners I see to ask them as they probably know. |

If you enter the address in Korean into the search box on the map site, it will mark the location for you.
The factory address is: 강원도 강릉시 구정면 어단리 973-1
Retail store address is: 강원도 강릉시 임당동 74-4
Also, this link will take you to a Naver Local page for the retail store that includes a small map: http://local.naver.com/siteview.nhn?code=100344218 |

Wow, you're good. Thanks. I would guess that's the center of the city and I can just find the coffee and lots more western goodies by walking around where the place is shaped like the map with that rotary being a main point of reference. Any Lotte department store or Emart on the side of that Rotary to use as a reference point for getting a taxi driver to take me from the bus or strain station? I'm just guessing from what other Korean cities like Changwon look like. |

Ok...you have really high hopes for Gangneung. It's not exactly the mecca of western food. But Terrarosa is really good.
First, there's no rotary. There are a few intersections with a bunch of streets, but most people think of downtown as the pedestrian mostly area around one street by the market. There's no department store. The E-Mart is really far (maybe 40 minutes on foot) from downtown.
Anyway, here's the easiest way I can think of to find Terrarosa retail store:
Go to McDonald's. The taxi drivers must think foreigners eat every meal at McDonald's judging from the times people I know and I have used this as dropoff point. But anyway, go toward the Dunkin Donuts from McDonald's. It's close, you should be able to see it. There's a small concentration of western fast food restaurants. Besides those, very little western food exists in Gangneung. Keep going past the donuts and turn right at the next light. Walk by a few stores and its on you left. I'll try to remember to verify these directions tomorrow, but I think they're good.
Edit: Clarified directions. |
