So I've been having internet problems for... well, since I arrived in Korea more than a year ago. The first two ISPs I had were fine, and the problem concerned a cheap network card I was using (I didn't change it convinced it was the ISP's fault).
Now, with an entirely new computer, I have an entirely new internet problem.
I'm using the free internet service in my apartment building (Suwon City Broadcasting Corporation) and my problems mainly concern gaming. While webpages, streaming video, downloads and such work alright (not great), my ping averages at around 400 on game servers where I used to ping around 150. Sometimes, when my ping is low, I still have massive latency issues where everything will halt instantaneously and I'll have to reconnect to the internet and try again.
I've ran through several virus scanners (suggested here: AVG, AdAware and Hijackthis) with no results. I've also tried messing around with my modem, restarting and unplugging for a few minutes before use. Nothing works. Is there any way around this?
Or should I actually go ahead and pay for the internet? |
