I got what you are after for 460,000 if I remember correctly. Had to bargain a bit though. |

if you can wait a couple weeks you should be able to find the new GTA IV bundle. Comes with GTA IV and some other GTA goodies. |

But don't forget, the PS3 Korean edition is now just 40g with NO SACD player. The 80g model WITH SACD player has been discontinued BUT there is talk of a 120g to 160g model coming out soon. |

As of yet there are no mods available for the PS3. Surprising as I thought they'd be cracked by now. Still people are posting PS3 games in the hopes of someday being able to burn/play them. |

Don't they still sell a 60gb model with SACD?
By the way, if you're a critical listener, the PS3's SACD solution isn't that great, anyway. It's getting average reviews for sound quality as far as SACD is concerned. And if you're someone who buys SACD's for sound quality, which is what they are all about, then you don't realy want something just average. For most people, it'd be OK to try just to hear SACD, though.
The PS3 does a decent job with CDs and SACD, but it's a bit bright/harsh with CDs via HDMI, in my own experience.
I went with the 40gb PS3, which runs quieter anyway, and used the savings to purchase an OPPO DVD player which sends direct DSD information to my Marantz receiver for SACD. The Oppo comes today, so I hope it'll work out well! It's one of the few newer CD players that sends the DSD information directly from the SACD, rather than actually decoding and sending via optical. It's supposed to be better than Optical or COAX, and will provide 5.1 channels in full SACD mode (which Optical and COAX can't do).
The final sound is totally dependent on your receiver's DAC's though. |

The only PS3 available on the Korean market now is the 40g, I believe. Anyway, I use my Yamaha multi-region DVD player for SACD using optical cable, but hmm, I guess I might need a new machine. Is the sound that much better direct than indirect via optical? |

It would sound better direct.
As I understand it, the SACD spec does not allow full resolution play through an optical path to play SACD. It must either be direct or via HDMI/PCM or HDMI/DSD (newer players). I just learned that.
What you're hearing is likely not SACD, but the hybrid CD track. |
