Famous for Winter Sonata, for some chicken dish, and is an hour or so from Seoul.
That's about all I know. Others will be more helpful. |

I've only gone once, for a day trip.
Famous for the chicken dish dalkgalbi, as noted. It's delicious. Nice lake in the middle of town, good hiking outside of it, as well as a massive dam. Beyond that, I don't know how much there is to do. If you enjoy communing with nature, you're OK. Maybe 300,000 people. Seoul is not far though. |

It is a very pretty place. The train ride up there is very nice. The town is easy to get around in. The winters are bitterly cold, summers very hot. |
