If youre in the West looking for a job in Korea, how does one go about finding a job without the assistance of a recruiter? It seems like 19 out of 20 jobs posted are through recruiters. Ive been told you should go directly to the schools, but Im not sure how to do this. Is there a way to bypass the recruiters and find a job directly through a school, if youre currently living in the west?

For public schools, you can go through EPIK or GEPIK. All the public schools outside of Seoul are in that jurisdiction. SMOE covers Seoul and you HAVE to go through a recruiter to work with them.

As for private schools, the major chains will have people responsible for hiring. You can find the school's numbe on the website. Jsut call them up using Skype and tell them you want to work there and you live in the West.

Of course, being in the West, how the hell would you know which schools to contact and which to avoid?

People say, "Contact the school's directly." Might be easy for people with clairvoyance or superhuman flight, but for others who live outside of Korea, they can't "contact the school directly" if they have no idea which school they want to go to.

Plenty of schools put ads on this site. I found both of my jobs in Korea
on here, and neither one involved a recruiter.

Now they will just tell you to go through the recruiters.
