It seems that the few recruiters I have talked to are really talking up Gangwando province. I have been there a few times (I have a car in Korea so I have driven to various places just to see what they are like).
I am wondering if anyone here has worked for a public school in Gangwando and if so, could you tell me what your experience was like. I am interested in hearing about things you like (or liked) about the position and things you don't (or didn't) like.
Thanks in advance. |

depends if u work high school or elementary/middle school.
I work at high school, its all good. everything nis very by the contract. 20hrs a week of classes, though with some high schools, you have no coteacher. So its all up to you.
People i know in elm and middle school like it. No major issues that ive heard about. Also if your in high school your pretty much at the whim of the admin of your school, local BOE cant really do shit in the way of making your school do stuff. So i you do get a shitty school then it might be a bit lonely looking for help.
So far its good, job is easy enough, students arent too much of a problem, and actually not having a coteacher is better cos the kids are less shy, and it would kinda be like another student in the room. |

Thanks Kiwi. For the past three years I have been working at an elementary school.
I am having difficulty deciding what I want to do next. I will probably not be staying with GEPIK.
Since I have a car, I think that I would be able to handle a little bit more rural area than other foreigners. However, I hear that it is possible to be snowed in if you are in Gangwangdo. Have you ever been snowed in to the point where you couldn't go to the store and had to stay home? |
