Okay, so I was just browsing through the job pages, and I realized something. There are a lot of jobs being offered in Korea. (Or a lot of recruiters offering the same jobs...)

Anyway, I noticed because I was moving down the list, and saw something I liked, figured I was way too late because it was down so far, but then I checked the date, and it was like three days ago.

So, I counted the advertisements just for fun. There are about 140 just for Korea during the last week. China itself has about 50. The rest of the world has about 50. So, Korea's listings outnumber the world listings, even with China tacked on.

The conclusion is that either Korea loves Dave's, recruiters love Korea, there are a heck of a lot of desperate employers in Korea, or there are tons more jobs in Korea than anywhere else in the world. What's up?

Dave's just happened to pick up a large share of the Korean advertising market. Thailand was already largely covered by ajarn.com. Other countries may have been by other sites. Also, Korean employers feel so inept at dealing with foreigners that they feel more comfortable leaving it to recruiting agencies.

Lots and lots of jobs, but not lots of good jobs.

One thing that tends to get missed though is that Koreans rely on the internet a lot, and have very good access to it. That's also why people who work here get their own set of playgrounds/forums to write in (where we also can't scare the people in more genteel places) - we are all stuck in front of a screen all day.

There are a lot of jobs in Latin America, for example, but the internet isn't the way to go for those.

Hey cool. Now I know where to look when I want to leave Korea.

Anyone know why out of the 140 job listings for the last week only about 6 look decent?

Replace a quitter today, BE a quitter tomorrow.

Be smart and avoid those high-turnover outfits. High-turnover outfits love to beg for help on sites like this. Hence, one looks to the ads to find those outfits he or she wants to avoid.

Well, wait a minute. We ARE talking about TESOL here. Many TESOL teachers will quit a job if the sky gets too cloudy, good salary or not.
