Hi all,
I am a returning teacher for SMOE. Where can I get the medical check on the NW side of Seoul? SMOE only recommended Seoul Medical Center at Samsung Station which is all the way on the other side of Seoul. I don't particularly want to ride the subway for over an hour to get there and then possibly again to have to go back and pick up the results. They were supposed to get back to several of us about another acceptable hospital in our area, but we never heard back from them.
Is there a hospital I can go to in the Anguk/Seodaemun/Eungam area? (preferably one that has English speaking staff that has a clue and is familiar with the tests required for visa applications. Drug/HIV test, etc)
And please also not one of those international hospitals that charge foreigners 3 times as much.
If you can, please tell me how to get to the hospital (ie what subway station and exit).
Thanks |

I'm in a similar situation.
It would help if I new what the test is called in Korean so I could at least try to find one on my own.
How long does it take to get the results back? Can you get it the same day, can they send them to me, or do I have to go back to the hospital to pick them up? |

Well when I did it last year it took about a week to get the results back and I was able to talk them into just faxing it to the recruiter who then took care of the visa stuff.
This year is different in that we need the HIV and the drug screen (last year we didnt) and returning teachers at least have to take that stuff to immigration ourselves.
So I am guessing we will have to go back and pick the results up, hence the reason I do not want to have to make a 2 hour subway trek across Seoul and back 2 times...
I asked the co-teachers at my school and of course they have no clue about any of this either.
Hoping someone see this and posts an acceptable, affordable hospital for all of us in the NW... |

I live in your area and had to do this with SMOE a few months ago. They told me I had to go to the Seoul Medical Centre. Yeah, it takes an hour but you get 2 days off. One to go there and one, 3 or 4 days later to pick up the results. Of course I think you can get them sent to you, but why not just get the free day off. It will be one of the few times you are not trying to pull teeth with them regarding off time. Cost is approximately 63,000 won.
Have fun. |
