I was looking at this site.

http://www.incheon-hotel.com/en/

and the following struck me.

Quote:
HOTEL INCHEON AIRPORT located nearby Incheon International Airport, the biggest gateway to South Korea,
is one of the nearest hotels, just 8 minutes far from the airport.

Its a great looking site and yet they still cant seem to get thier english completely right. When you consider the number of native english speakers in Korea and how much it must cost to do a webpage of this quality, they could hire a person to just proofread it couldn't they?

Why do Korean businesses find it so difficult to get something language perfect when there are so many here who could do it for them?

We are not in a country where there is a lack of native speakers.

Hee hee hee Laughing

Sry.

Most teachers here aren't that good at proofreading(lack experience like myself) and are not legally able to because of our visas.

Check out the new website for the Sejong Center. Notice how "Introduction" is spelled.

After doing a little more exploring on their site I came across these two descriptive gems.

touche' - I should fix my spelling and grammar mistakes. I am just a little busy at the moment, but I seem to keep on making that spelling mistake when I write in a hurry.

You make a very good point, Summerwine. One poster pointed out that you didn't capitalize the word English. Many native speakers these days aren't capitalizing their own language. Subjects are not capitalized (capitalised if you are British), but the names of languages are capitalised. My grammar isn't fantastic, and I should look over my writing. One must be detail oriented in that regard. You seem like a decent person, so I am not taking a shot at you, and I think there is room for improvement for everyone.

Frankly, I think Koreans are not detail-oriented in general. You probably know this from experience. They can be lazy. In addition, they would have to pay a foreigner to fix their grammatical errors, and some companies are cheap.

A so-called Korean businessman wanted to befriend me to help him translate legal type language. I referred him to an Australian with a legal background who would expect remuneration, and the Korean businessman did not reply. I saw a jewelry store in Ilsan that had the following banner "I Wish Your Mary Christmas and Happy New Year".
I saw errors of that sort in Egypt, but in a more advanced country with native teachers, I think it boils down to laziness and not being detailed oriented in many cases. The Egyptians don't have the money to ask a native speaker to do this and that.

I have written horrible posts before. It happens. The worst thing to do is to write after you've had a few drinks:) I am not talking about kool aid:)
