This is a bit confusing because I don't know if I actually did or not. I simply don't remember doing so. However, since I don't see a problem with it, let's take the stance that I did.

Supposedly, I informed another teacher of my earnings. They complained to the school that they weren't getting paid as much. Another teacher and myself who make the same discussed this, and he was the one who I think disclosed it (if not also me).

He feels there is a legal obligation to the employer to not disclose information, whereas I think it should be voluntary based. If you want it private, keep it private. If you don't mind telling, then you should have the right to.

So, even if I did disclose my earnings, I don't see the problem. The employer gets to see everyone's earnings, but the employees don't? It seems like a double standard to me.

Anyway, our employer hauled us into their office and told us not to tell others information in our contract.

This to me seems absolutely wrong. Is there a legal stance if this were to go to court (hypothetically speaking) where I could be fined in some way for disclosing information in my contract?

Koreans don't like us discussing salaries and benefits because then everyone becomes informed and they have to up the ante.

There is NO LEGAL REASON for worry unless you have a non-disclosure clause in your contract. This would give grounds for a civil suit if they could prove damage to their business (not bloody likely).

It is illegal for your employer to levy any sort of fine (Labor standards act).

Unless there is a non-disclosure clause in your contract, they can't enforce this "request".
