Do you in fact save money?

What is the process involved after booking?

Do you have to have a credit card to secure your purchase or can you go in person to pay for your ticket...what is the process?

Hum...you can do better I believe, here are some of the ones I have tried and thought of, I think some of our other members likely have even better info for you.

One way others have talked about here is to use a Korean travel site, and get help from a Korean friend.

Second, talk to a travel agent about your flight. When they give you the outline it will give you price and airline. Go to the airline (web, phone, etc) and see if they will give you a cheaper price. I have use this method and found that it can be cheaper for you, for long distance flights. I did not find much of an advantage for short local country flights.

Third, try contacting different Englihs speaking travel agents and see if any great difference. I have not had much real difference with this one.

Oh, try doing a search here on this website. There was a some interesting stuff about odd flights to Philippines and Thailand. I hope there is for you to China.

Well I often book my tickets from the Korean Air website. Although they are normally more expensive than other carriers, I've found their web fares often compare with travel agent fares, maybe a little bit more. But I know I'm also paying for quality, so its worth it to me.

You have to sign up for the membership first on the website, but its free. Then you just search for flights, and you can pay with either a international credit card, or your Korean debit card. Then they email you the e-ticket which you can just print out and bring with you to the airport.

It's easier and more convenient for me than an agent, because I can see all the different schedules and fares available at once.

I paid slightly less buying direct from Korean Air than quotes for same flights that I was given by four different trave agents.

perhaps that was their "travel agent" fee.

but they certainly weren't able to offer any discounts.

My early and limited experience with travel agents in Korea is that they're utterly useless (though that's a generalization) and if you want a deal on a fare, it's best to use one of those discount fare sites like whypaymore, et al.

and I used my US credit card.
