...from a Russian University help me get a Uni Job in Korea? I'm thinking of going to grad school. I'm glad I've done some time at public school here, but if I'm going to stay sane in Korea I need to teach adults. The thing is I don't really like learning TESOL stuff. I hate english(as a language) I lilke teaching it though. Anyway I know you can get in someUniveristies with only a BA but I've always wanted a grad degree. The other issue, would there be a shot of teaching Russian or Russian Lit? Maybe even in English? |

Some uni jobs are really bad, and anyone can get them.
A russian MA won't be appreciated much, but will put you one step ahead of the person with nothing at all. |

I am native Russian speaker and I have not had much luck in over 4 years looking for such a thing in South Korea.
Yes they exist. But it is difficult to get in. Very difficult. The benefits are not that much better either.
I reckon though you would easily get such a position in northern China (say Harbin or Shenyang) or indeed in Russia itself. |

Ma in anything (and least regarding languages) helps. I have an MA in French and 2 years doctoral work. Of the five jobs I applied to I got 3 offers. The univ. I went to was Ucla however and Koreans know that school so that probably helped. I had a lot of teaching experience as well. Also, if you ever teach in the States, you get a lot more cash if you have lots of graduate credits (and I mean I started plus 20 grand teaching h.s. cause of my grad credits). |
