you need a re-entry permit.
You can get it at:
Your local immigration office (single use - 30k won or multiple use - 50k won)
The port immigration office (single use only - 30k won)
on-line: http://www.g4f.go.kr/ but you need some way to pay and they only allow processing during business hours.

I applied for a Re-entry Permit through the Hi-Korea's e-application service.
I was able to obtain a Certification of Permission without paying any service charge. Took about one day to process. |

You must be a Brit. They get it free. All the rest of us who only have a single entry visa must pay for them. |

Really? Didn't know that. Is there a reason why that is?
Pity that us Brits can't transfer a Korean Pension back to the UK so easily too. |

Koreans Can't go to the states without a visa but they get multi-entry visas.
