Title says it all, could really use a squat rack (not a smith machine). I live in Cheongju would love a heads up about a gym with a squat rack.

Currently I have to clean to get my weight to front squats. Unfortunately, I can squat more than I can clean so I struggle to get the weight up to squat. I'm not a big guy and cleaning the thing I do now might lead to injury. This is how I do it, but the weight I do it at I do struggle with my cleans.

Anyhoo, if you know of a cheongju gym with a squat rack I'd appreciate it.

I don't see whether it has to do if you're a big guy or not. The clean is a safe exercise if properly performed, and you will build explosive power in your whole lower body, lower back, and traps from doing it. I would suggest watching your clean form carefully if you're worried about injury.

That said, you still need a squat rack. I wish I could provide you with a location.

When in Thailand I went to a gym without a squat rack and I survived. They had bumper plates which was great. I did deadlifts, cleans, good mornings (clean and pressed and then lowered the weight behind my neck to get the barbell there), front squats, one armed dumbbell cleans. It was actually okay since I did the squat so often back home, it was good to get a greater variety in my exercises. I don't suggest training a particular movement all the time since that can lead to imbalances.

Check out Rodeo Fitness downtown. Been a while since I went there, but I seem to recall they had one.
