Okay so my boyfriend is trying to get his police check sent here from Michigan and they are saying they require fingerprints in order to send it to him.....
Where can he get fingerprints here? Any Korean police station?
Has anyone else had this problem?? |

I'm guessing he could get it done at any police station. He can do it himself, but they are pretty particular about it. Here's the form it needs to be on.

1. Google for the web site of the State Crime Bureau for your state.
2. Download the application form for a criminal record check.
(Use the telephone number on the web-site to ask them directly about specifics)
You can fingerprint yourself if it is a requirement in your state.
3. Submit your application for the certified criminal record check.
4. Google the Secretary of State for your state. (Call the number on the web-site with any questions).
5. Once you've received your state criminal record check, send that and an application form for an apostille to the secretary of state for the same state( application can be downloaded from the web-site of the secretary of state of your state/ei: Michigan).
It only takes about a week for each. Use return postage. If you are overseas provide Fed-Ex pre-paid or have a friend handle it for you back home. |

Here's a question...I was born in Indiana, but spent almost 10 years in Illinois before I moved to Korea.
Which state should I request a check from? |

I would go with Illinois since you spent so much time there the most recently. I just got mine done in North Dakota but am going back "home" to Alaska where I lived for 20+ years before going to ND for school...I'm just waiting for some gov't official to try and say I should have gotten it from AK even though I spent the last three years in ND( since I am from Alaska and will be there immediately before my trip to Korea, even if it is only for a month or so)....hopefully I am just being paranoid! |

I may be going out on a limb here, but if you want it to work in Korea, I'd say request it from the state in which you do NOT have any felonies. |
