|
|
| My bedroom and office have been like bloody ovens the las two nights. So once again, it looks like I'll be dragging a blanket and pillow onto the couch in the living room - the only room I have aircon. This is only early/mid July, but in my four summers here I have never felt rooms so hot. I've only lived in this place since March, and it has huge windows, so maybe I'm in for an uncomfortable summer. |

What floor are you on?
Accommodation gets hotter the higher it is, as it gets extra heat from above and below. I'm sure the top floors get more breeze though.
Cooler here today, and plenty breeze coming through the windows (1st floor here).
Do ypu have curtains?
Suffered last summer, I feel your pain.
EDIT:Don't be afraid of fan death. Get one with a timer . |

I feel your pain, man. Only my living room has A/C and I've got a new kitten, so I keep the doors closed so she can't wreak havoc on the electronics as I sleep. That means my bedroom is A/C-less. I hope picking up a fan will help the room out at night... |

| I feel your pain. I live on the top floor of my building, there are a lot of windows, and I get the direct morning sun. If you do not have curtians or blinds get some. Also, something that I did when I worked a graveyard shift was putting foil over the windows. It cuts down on some of the heat. Combined with blinds, even better. I have put foil on about half my windows and notice a difference when I get up in the morning. |

| Just soak the sheet you are sleeping with in cold water. Before it dries you'll fall asleep feeling cool. I learned that trick in Arizona. |

You beat me too it I was going to suggest this too. I don't like to sleep with the airconditioner on. I just throw a sheet or my duvet cover in the wash and then sleep with the damp sheet with the fan turned on. |

Right there with you.
My husband, son, dog, cat and I are all sleeping on our screened in balcony with 4 fans pointed at us. I wake up every couple of hours to wipe my son (he's 4 months old) down with a wet washcloth.
Instead of sleeping on the couch buy a cheap floor mattress, you can usually get a decent one for 25,000, it's way more comfortable than a couch. |

| Just before I go to bed, I take a cold shower. I don't dry off. The evaporation sucks a lot of heat out of you. I also keep a spray bottle in the bedroom, and during the night, if I wake up, I will spray my son a little. |

Third floor of a forth floor building. I should get a breeze because I'm part way up a big hill and quite exposed. But I don't.
I sleep with a fan directed on me all year round.
EDIT: I have curtains, which I keep closed all the time. They're really thin, though, so my place isn't dark. |

Why can't you have a fan? Your wife moan until you switch it off? That's happened to me with girlfriends, and it sucks. What's wrong with women and sleeping with a fan on? |

Heh heh. That's cute.
Hey OP if you're in the doghouse with your gf you don't have to pretend it's an airconditioning issue. We all sympathise. |
