Ok, so to make a long story shore, my hagwon sucks, I dont want to get into all the details, but I know he's not paying pension, etc.... now I am definetely considering a midnight run, i have 4 months left at this hagwon but I feel like I really cant leave. You see he is saving up ALL of my bills till october when i'm finished. So that includes my utilities, pension and health insurance.
So if I leave, I could be held liable for that money if I came back to Korea, which is what I want to do. Anyone got any advice for a poor ESL slave? |

| Go over his head. Tell the NPS about him. Have them print you up all the info regarding his half and your half of the pension contributions. Then if he continues to be a *beep*, ask the NPS to call the labor board. It is illegal what he is doing. If you pull a mid night run, he'll go home and enjoy his life, knowing that you didn't man up to him. You need to man up to him. Make him squirm. |

He is saving YOUR bills? It's perfectly obvious what he's up to.
He will deduct a shitload of money from your final paycheck. Then he'll stick that money into his own bank acct and tell the landlord/utils company that you did a runner without paying. Fcuking shady fcuking crooked thieving fcuking gypsy scamming b45tard.
Go to the NPS. He is breaking the law. Tell him you want to pay your own bills. Why would he save your bills? The only is that he's going to pull a scam.

The labour board will not address pension issues in any way. Nor will they address the issues of the bills or the medical insurance. None of those issues are labour issues, and therefore out of their purview. |

Leave, set aside the money you owe anyway, return and pay any outstanding bills?...or will immigration let you into the country? |

I agree with Maddog. Why else would he not be paying the bills? He's definitely looking to pocket some money and let the foreigner take the heat for it. Man, it just sickens me when these slimeballs take advantage of someone who they know is vulnerable. |

Why did you let it get to this point?
What do you mean he's saving up your pension/health insurance bills and utilities: he's either paying them or he isn't.
You should have reported him to the labor board and pension office, and told him so -- that he would have been forced to either pay or fire you, and then you could have gotten reputable employment. If he'd been forced to pay, you could have called the pension and health offices each month to make sure things were taken care of....
Or does he have something on you (you're working illegally or don't have a degree)?

If the OP is working illegally without a degree he CAN'T be getting pension and health insurance. These are hooked up to a working visa.
The pension and health insurance must be paid on time. The bills can't be collected and paid later. At least I've never heard of anyone doing that. And in the case of utilities either they get paid or the power and water get cut, right?
Really good control mechanism to essentially blackmail, hold captive the FT. If the FT runs the FT leaves behind a ton of 'owed money' and the hagwon owner has every right to make a major complaint to Immigration.
Resulting in the FT getting on an Immi blacklist and being unable to work in Korea again.
With this kind of employer if you demand to pay up your bills every month he will 'suspect' you plan to run. Abby.

Then she is NOT working legally.
To obtain an E2 we must (for immigration BEFORE then will issue a visa confirmation number or visa extension) submit:
a) criminal record check (with appostille from your home country)
b) original degree or apostilled/embassy notarized/certified copy of same
c) SEALED, Official, original university transcripts
and before you can get your ARC:
d) medical check from a local hospital with drug and HIV tests

1- He might not be paying AT ALL (and not telling the respective offices there is even an employee), then at the end withhold all the money "so he can pay it", then just pocket the money. Why does he care if you don't get your pension. You're already gone. As for medical, anyone who goes a full year without insisting on being covered is just begging to be hit by a car.
2- Plenty of schools pay the bills for the teacher, but they also never let the teacher SEE the bills. They just deduct the money from their salary. The boss may very well be paying the bills, but come end of contract just withhold the entire last salary to "cover" all the bills. "Let me see the bills" "Don't you trust me?" |
