I was dreading this aspect after all the moaning that was going on here
(Yup that means you Grab the Chickens Levi Laughing Mr Mature Farmhouse
Cheddar sandwich man!) but I find the dinners at our school quite tasty!

Is it just me or are the dinners served up in the PS system not that bad?

When I was at school - the dinners were based around pies and pasties/sausages/chips/mushy peas/gravy/barmcakes/ sponge pudding and custard. Not much fruit - or I never had any in 5 years unless it was the apple in the pie! Laughing

I know Americans eat meatloaf during lunchtime at school and Canadians
seal and whale blubber. Laughing

I've eaten it a couple of times at my high school when I was staying late working with some students. It's not too bad considering it's school food.

Oooh you pedantic bastards! Laughing

I mean school LUNCH! though I have never referred to the afternoon mealtime at school as lunch when I was a kid- it was always dinner! This might be a cultural aspect and I apologize for the confusion.

Ah heh, you gotta run it through the Webster's filter for us Yanks. Yeah school lunches ain't bad for the most part. It depends on the school though. My high school used to be terrible, they've improved a lot since the accountant who was skimming money from the lunch budget was let go. (That is not a joke).

Most of the meals at my 2 schools are delicious - very occasionally they're awful, but there's usually at least one 'dish' that's edible.

I knew a few guys from Saskachewan, in University, that would call lunch, dinner. But, for me dinner will always be the evening meal...

I think they'll get better when all this cheap American beef arrives. I mean when they use beef they always skimp on it. When the cheap stuff from States comes in maybe we'll have real beef in the Kalbi tang.
Not just bones hot water and an egg.

At the high school I work at, we get lunch and dinner. Lunch from Monday to Friday is usually 2,500 won and dinner Monday thru Friday from 5:30-6:30 PM is free if the teacher has afternoon/evening classes. So 3 days a week, I just eat at the school. Sometimes, I come in late Saturday morning voluntarily, complete a couple of tasks, surf the net, then have lunch for free with some of the Korean teachers. If you like Korean food, our cafeteria is pretty good. The seasoning is not as good as most restaurants but on some days it's pretty good. Now I eat out at restaurants only on the weekend ... though a hamburger does sound very good right now.

Can't agree about the Cantonese and the Falklanders, but I'm certainly with you here Bejarno, both with getting dinner "mixed up" and confusing Koreans, Kiwis and North Americans, and the fact that Korean dinners taste better than British school dinners. It's not surprising though, is it? The UK is famous for rotten food, and we went to school before Jamie Oliver became powerful as well.

Did you ever eat that chocolate sponge pudding with green custard? Shocked man - no wonder I had spots! Laughing

The only culinary person I ever remember on British TV when I was a kid was Rusty Lee on 'Good Morning Britain'

Korean school dinners are pretty good mate!

Every Wednesday during the school year I have to meet the head of my dept. (Uni) for lunch in the "professor's" cafeteria.

I love the food. It's not great, but it's very healthy and lean, and very tasty. When I was an undergrad, I worked in the Ucla cafeteria. At the end of a shift, there was a half-inch of grease sliming the floor. That's how much fat there was in the food.
