Well straight to the point....what have you seen....?

I stopped at a small supah in my neighbourhood to sit and sip on a beer the other day...there was a verrrry old man sitting at the table outside - cane, 90 degree bend, etc...sucking on large chunks of ice in a kimchi stew pot centered on the table...I sat down and answered the usual 'where are you from?' and such...nice old fella...

Then when I peered into the black pot with its floating ice I noticed it was the ashtray...half a dozen butts in it...the old fella just kept enjoying the ice, popping large chunks into his mouth and dropping them back in when his hands got too cold...

I tried to tell him, but he was a bit hard of hearing and couldn't understand my Korean speaking, so I tried to show him and he didn't get it...don't know if he couldn't see the butts or not...really sad...

Another man came by very shortly and sat down...I asked him to please tell the old fella it is the ashtray...the guy couldn't or wouldn't for some reason....

That sad display certainly sums up the old man you saw. Glad you came straight to the point.

Do you hug the trees before you snap their branches? Smile

Yeah, I am never straight to the point...I am a chowderhead, but I will try just for you...

Deaf-blind albino yoda sucks ashtray icewater despite warnings from chowderhead.

I feel a little anguish and anger every time I see a cardboard ajumma pushing a heavily laden cart up a hill.

A report on the news couple of weeks ago says they earn an average of 2500-3000won per day!!!!

So the point is that deaf-blind yoda albinos are always sucking dirty stuff? That kind of sad behaviour really sums them up?

I'm guessing you meant to say "I saw an old man sucking dirty things. I felt sad".

Doesn't seem like a champion thread though.

Rubbish cart pushers are worth thinking about though, before the next person gripes about getting 2.X million.

Why can the two not coexist? What, because I feel bad about people NOT being lucky enough to have a decent job with a decent wage, I'm not allowed to make the kind of money I feel I deserve?

By your line of reasoning, anyone with a shred of empathy should be working a dead-end job and never getting any raises or rewards because there's always someone in the world who's got it shittier than you do.

In modern society, people tend to gripe whatever they make. It is never enough, and someone else is always making more. People are much more concerned with catching up with that someone, rather than helping the guy with the rubbish cart.

I don't know how much English teachers in Korea "deserve". Most of them didn't do a lot to get where they are, and they aren't doing anything important. Anyway, in fairy land everyone gets what they deserve, but not in real life.
