|
|
I am going to use an example...
Just say my credit card has a $5,000 limit
and one month ago - I book and PAY for a hotel room over the internet with the hotel costing $600... entering my credit card details etc etc
and they send me an email saying "Hotel confirmation (booking) etc... etc has been made - blah blah
but over the last 3 weeks - I spend heaps of money on the credit card so that it is max-ed (reached its limit)...
when I go to check in at the hotel in one weeks time - and they ask me to give them my credit card...
will the money ($600) still be on the credit card for the hotel...??
or will it be rejected?
did I already pay for the hotel... ?? or what exactly is a booking? when to make the booking they have already used my credit card?
why do they ask for my card again - when I check in? |

Generally they don't take money from your credit card at that point, or they may take a deposit (it should tell you if this is the case). WHen you check in they take payment so you can pay by another means, and if your card is maxed out then the money for the hotel won't be on there. If you don't turn up then they will make a charge to the card you gave the details for at the time of booking. |
