I was told a while back that exchanging my money at the airport after the security gates was better than doing it in a local bank? so, without checking into it that's what Ive always done. but now I'm converting a hefty chunk and am curious if anyone knows for sure if this info is true? should i stop by my bank before the airport? or wait until after the security checks at the airport?
thanks |
The exchange booths at the airport in Korea ARE the banks. There are small differences between them, just as there are between different banks, but they have the same rates as their respective bank branches in town.
One of the differences is the paperwork. At your bank you will be swamped with it if you want to exchange a significant amount of cash. At the airport, $10,000 per transaction booth and simply show your passport.
There are 4 booths in the outer areas and 2 inside the secure zone.
there are also 2 banks on the 2nd floor (between arrivals - 1st floor and departures - 3rd floor) in the center section of the airport.
