Hehe, always got a kick out of some of the random names you'd see for Chicken shops. Last time I was in Jeju I was walking down the street with a friend and we saw a place called "Smop Chicken."
She commented on how much she loved watching "The Smops" when she was younger. I was kind of like "Hmm, never heard of the Smops before." She was pretty surprised and told me that it was an American cartoon. Finally put two and two together and realized she was talking about "The Smurfs." Would have helped if we'd come from the other direction cus the main sign on the building had a big picture of Papa Smurf going to town on a drumstick.
Then there's the place near Hongdae called "Camel Toe Chicken"....
OK, ok, I kid, I kid ;p |

It seems to me I used to see signs for Donky Chicken, not Donkey Chicken. But yes, it's a cuter name than Pelicana Chicken. |

But it gets funnier... It isn't called Donky Chicken... It's Donky Fried Chicken. The images that that conjures up are hilarious. |

Fond memories of Donky Chicken in a rural town (it's now a Chicken Castle) - the owners would leave (or not be there when I arrived), but I had permission to pour my own beer! Newbies in town would 'freak out' when we'd walk in and I'd grab a couple of o-baek 'cups' out of the cooler and fill them from the 'Hite Live' tap. It was an honour system (if they weren't there when I left) I'd leave the money on the counter. Draught beer any time of the day...pour your own! |

Donky Chicken is good. I like to dip the meat in the salt mix. |

It's not just the chicken shops with great names. How about the pizza shops. When I was in Bundang, I used to order from Pizza Cat. Come on, who puts reference to a domesticated animal on their restaurant. Let's eat at Pizza Cat tonight. Makes one wonder what the beef looking bits really are.
In reality, the food wasn't bad. |
