This issue is beyond dumb and beyond anyone's caring. But as long as there's no more reason to be angry with America, gotta stir up some trouble...

I chose "Research their claim and form an educated opinion" which is what most of the idiots on this site should do. Find out the facts before bashing anyone. Didn't we just have 2000 threads bashing the beef protesters for the same BS that this thread is tring to do????

Researching the claim so you can make an educated decision is the only option that people should choose, otherwise you might make yourself look silly in a political discussion. Smile

True, but what side are you on?

It depends on whose research you have read.

Oooh, good point. I'd read both sides, and if I still didn't get my answer, it's time to dig deeper until I'm satisfied with the interpretation of the information.

That would depend upon my country of origin.

For instance, were I from the UK, I'd have to listen (but not too carefully) to claims made by some in Scandinavia.
From Australia, the Aborigines might get my ear.
From the US, Native Americans would definitely have my attention.
From Canada, Natives, British, French, Norwegians, and maybe the US would all need to be heard.
And so forth.

The Koreans might need to open a dialogue with Japan on this one.

Were I from South Africa, I'd be perfectly safe from any of those claims, as nobody in their right mind would lay claim to that festering shihtole falling out of the ass end of a shihtole continent.

I voted 'ignore them' since I can't think of a country that uses school textbooks to set national policy.

I'm not interested in researching who got there first. Territory changes hands all the time. Alsace-Lorraine anyone? What matters is who controls the area at the moment and is the other guy making any moves to seize control by force.

Korea militarily occupies the rocks right now and Japan is making no moves to seize them by force.

Next story please.

or you could say you don't give a rat's ass which nation state lays claim to some rocks in the sea and not bother researching the topic unless you find something interesting about it. It's some stupid face-saving thing. I highly doubt any good could come from bickering over this. Especially if you have anarchist leanings, you might think that no nation deserves to create arbitrary borders.
