Hi,
The rules seem to be changing all the time. I am leaving, so am not completely up to date, but here is what I did 12 months ago for what its worth.
.
1- I got my criminal record check in NSW, but did not need fingerprint check.
2- I didnt have to do, this, but I guess it depends on what the Korean Govt asks for (?)
3- Thats correct; stamp (and signed) over the seal only.
Good luck! |

I was asked to get a criminal record check down by the federal police, all the information and forms are on their website, it cost around $30 and took 15 days. I just read that thing about queenslanders being diff, but this is what i did nevertheless.
I did it from Korea, when they sent it back to me here I went to the embassy, gave it to some girl who took it away stamped it charged me $30, and then i handed it in to immi and that was that. |

I did it from NSW in April and the State Check (without Fingerprints) Apostiled by Foreign affairs was all that was needed. The State Police Check checks all states so really is a National Check requested through the state. There was no need to get a lawyer involved in the process. All that I had to do was to take the original police check report to DEFAT pay the $80 and then either give an envelope for it to be mailed (or go back the next day to pick it up) ... I chose the express post option (because it was cheaper than me going back ... and actually got it in the mail by 8:30 the next morning (which was 1/2 hour earlier than I could have picked it up personally). What DFAT do is to verify (using their records) that the signature/name on the Police record check is one of the people who are legally authorised to issue a valid police record check. Authenticating it as a legal offical document. For whoever is putting it in for you it is worth checking the DFAT website for the specific procedures for the office they will be going to. In Sydney the Office which did this was located in a different place to other DFAT enquiries and was only open in the morning (they did the processing side of the work in the afternoon - so you could only take it in in the morning).
The transcripts just needed to be stamped and signed (over the seal) by the university. They must be submitted unopened (so no verification or apostile is even pssible) |
