I have submitted my resume and whatnot to AndyPrep to teach standardized test prep. I would really like to get a job with them because 1) I'm operating under the assumption that they pay more (2.5-3 per month?) and 2) I'm hoping that teaching for test prep will be a better resume-builder than your standard TESL job.
However, I have had some difficulty arranging a phone interview. Someone from their office has called and emailed me to schedule a time for an interview, but I have yet to actually conduct the interview. I'm not sure if this is because they are 1) not very interested, 2) disorganized, or 3) because they are very busy with a summer intensive program (as she said in the email.) I will note however that I feel I am qualified, because of my test scores and the university I attended. (90th percentile, top 25 university)
Now I'm getting antsy as it's been over a week and still no interview. So... Does anyone know of any other Hagwon's like AndyPrep? I searched on the net and found Princeton Review has a korean website, but it is only in korean language and has no english option. If possible, could you please post any websites and/or contact information of similar hagwons so that I can forward my cover letter and resume.
Also, is there anyone out there who works for one of these schools? How has your experience been? I'm hoping to avoid the major pitfalls and problems associated with working for hagwons (ie late pay, non-pay, 11th month firing, etc.) bc I'm assuming these Test prep schools are more reputable.
As you can see I'm making alot of assumptions! Can anyone clear them up?
Thanks in advance... |
