I'm considering a few locations on the southeast coast: Mason and nearby cities. The one big factor going against me locating there at the moment is the heat. I know it's not an accurate indication, but weather.com gives the following for today:
Seoul:
79, Feels like 81. Humidity: 68%. Wind: From NE at 6 mph
Sokcho (east coast):
79, Feels like 81. Humidity: 71%. Wind: From SSW at 1 mph
Mason:
81, Feels like 86. Humidity: 71% Wind: From S at 2 mph
I don't know what to make of these figures, I guess you can't base it off one day. But if you were to base it off one day...Seoul looks like the winner. That's surprising, as I've lived in Sokcho for a year and the weather there was never 'over the top' unpleasant.
What I'm concerned about is Mason...is it that hot? Are there no sea breezes to offset the humidity? How about the surrounding areas? Any place on the southeast coast that is known to be cooler in summer? |

NOTE: Avoid Daegu.
As for the rest of the country, the difference in temperature is not noticeable. I lived in Jinhae for 4 years (Jinhae is next to Masan--through the tunnel) and there was no difference that I could tell. The difference is in the winter. And that is a major difference. Heavy jacket vs winter coat, scarf, gloves and long johns. |
