..in Philadelphia.
Anyone else love this show?
Charlie kelly has to be my favorite character on tv since George Michael on arrested development. Great, great show and ridiculously well rated over on imdb. I was a bit skeptical of DeVito at first but he has been great also. Hope they are coming back for a 4th season.

I like it. It's really funny. More frat boy humour with a twist than anything.
I always like shows where stereotypical characters are forced to accept and deal with things outside of their realm of experience.
The best was the episode where one guy was dating a fundie girl and she told him she was pregnant while they were at an abortion protest, and he said: "I think you need to have an abortion. I think no one in the world has the right to an abortion, except for you, because it's mine. Get an abortion." ... or something like that. It slayed me. |

I'm not sure what frat boy humor is but its definitely the funniest thing I've seen in a while. It is the Charlie character that sets its apart. I love his illiteracy and glue habit..

My fave part about that show, was that he got to sleep with her after showing her a list of abortion doctors, with some of the names crossed out... |

Anything with Tom Green is non-humour.
But Sunny in Philly can be pretty funny. Someone mentioned on Dave's months ago and I needed something to watch on the way to work. The episodes where they try to get on TV and the one where they run a sweat shop are awesome. |

This show used to be on around 11.30pm back home - with good reason. I think it's pretty damn funny though I cringed a lot while I watched it, especially in that episode where those guys pretended their school coach had molested them. It's so anti-PC that it's funny. |

It's like in the old days they used to open up mental hospitals to the general public for a good laugh'n'stare. These days we think we know better, then someone like Tom Green comes along and gets famous... |

ah..well personally I don't think its anything like the above shows, but everyone has their own take i suppose.
I like this comparison more as alluded to in the title of the thread..

Yes, "Sunny" does beg a favorable comparison to "Seinfeld" and manages to do so without ripping off "Seinfeld". I say that as somebody who thinks "Seinfeld" comparisons are thrown around way to frequently. Where other shows pilfered the surface-level appeal of "Seinfeld" - the catch phrases, the relationship/sex jokes - this is the first to understand the gutsier mechanics behind the show, pick up the heavier baton and give us grit, grime, characters of real repulsion and a mocking of things we are told to treat with reverence. As "Seinfeld" call-backs go, "Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia" finally gets it right - and all inside its own universe. You honestly get the sense that a "Seinfeld" call-back isn't what the creators are going for. |

I'd definitly say its closer to Seinfeld than American Pie. I really don't see that connection at all. |
