I want to teach in a public school in Seoul, or maybe Pusan. And nowhere else. Earlier this summer, I tried to do this, through an agency, but the application was rejected by SMOE, because the agency had said I needed only one reference letter, not two. I have two, and will get a third soon. So the agency made a mistake.
Is it still possible to find public school positions in Seoul? And can I find public school, evening positions. The after hours programmes appeal to me too. Which agencies are reliable? I am determined to go to Seoul. I had a brief look at this website today. Ads are for Seoul and other places, like say, Chungbuk province. And they could just try to put me there i.e. where I don't want to go. And I have real teaching experience, so now I feel I should go to the capital. .
I know what I want. But how do I get it? Please don't tell me I have to wait till next year. That would be awful. |

Not sure about evening positions... For regular SMOE teaching, however, you might still be in luck... Personally I have an interview with them on Monday so who knows? Go for it - The worst they can say is no... |

That's weird that SMOE rejected you because you only had one letter of recommendation. My recruiter was able to get me an interview with SMOE after turning in nothing more than the app., my resume and a single letter of recommendation. Had the interview and was sent the contract the same week. This all happened about a month ago. Turned in the remaining documents after I had gotten the "ok" from Korea. Seems like everyone here is playing the same game, but each according to entirely different rule books. Makes for a wealth of misinformation, but I have to admit, it's kinda fun, keeping on your toes and all. As the poster mentioned above, there's probably a chance that you can still get hired if you go through a new recruiter. Give it a a shot. |
