Most responsible jobs in the world start in the morning. This does not bode well for your future success.

Short but sweet. I like it.

Piece of advice for the OP: You need to become accustomed to going to sleep earlier every night, and in turn, waking up earlier in the morning. You can gradually make this transition.

If you have to wake up early, you can do it. If not, then you're just being lazy. Plus, waking up around noon is for teenagers.

Perhaps you should look into a career as a night clerk at 7-11.

Once you get on a schedule it's hard to break, but the fogeys will pontificate nonetheless. Try melatonin or sleeping pills for a week to get on schedule.

Actually, not every human's biorhythmic cycle coincides with the standard 'wake with the sun' cycle. I am a primarily nocturnal person here in the States. It will be interesting to see what sort of change I go through living on the other side of the world.

Will I be a day person just because of the time difference or will I remain nocturnal? If it's the latter then theories on the impact of sunlight on biorhythmic cycles would seem to be correct.

I became a day person... probably cause my bedroom back home was dark and quiet in the morning, and this one is sunny and loud.

IncognitoFX should be able to give you some useful tips re: the consequences of not being able to drag your ass out of bed in the morning.

Jobs that allow you to stay up all night: gangster, hooker, hagwon teacher...

if you can't handle it...don't do it.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Wario picked his hagwon mainly due to the location and working hours...afternoon-evening, due to being a night owl. He likes the night life..

And he claims that due to this the jetlag didn't affect him in the least, he'd been living on Korean time for two months before he left.

Sorry, that's my kid, Juror. He's finishing his second week as a teacher today. I joined this board to see what's going on over there.

Most enlightening.

I was concerned about the schedule as well, but the benefits far outweigh this negative. I'm at my most productive and imaginative in the later evening to the middle of the night. That's just my cycle. I'm like a retarded chimp in the mornings and a zombie in the early afternoon.

However, you can adjust to the schedule somewhat easily. I still hate mornings and I have quite a commute on busy subways/bueses to go along with it. It's all about routine, though. I make my lesson plans when I am at my best, so in the mornings I just walk through it. I do each one 7 times, so it's really not that hard. Then, especially in elementary, you'll have hours upon hours of do nothing time in the afternoon that can be used for napping. We have a 'restroom' (not that kind) for teachers with a yo and pillows.

When I worked in a hagwon, I think I was just staying up so late because I was stressed about work. Now I sleep like a dead baby. I walk out of this school at 440pm and don't even think about it again until I return the next morning. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Nobody sleeps at my school. NOBODY. (Except the Principal, and everyone makes fun of him for it.)

Try to find out about your school before you go. I guess the people at hard ass schools like mine don't post much because they are too damn busy but I'm a message board addict so I make time.

Let me get this straight? You joined this board because your kid is teaching in Korea? Any chance you were born in Korea and your kid is a gypo?
