I always thought that if you had permission from your employer you could work a second job LEGALLY on your E-2 visa. Is this true?

Also if someone was to get BUSTED and DEPORTED for working illegally do they need to be caught ON THE JOB of are there other ways.

Just curious.

Please reply if you know about those questions. Thanks.

Your avatar is too big.

You need permission from your employer AND ADVANCE permission from Immigration BEFORE you can start the 2nd job. ( http://www.immigration.go.kr ). The 2nd job MUST be added to your ARC before you begin employment. The fee is 60k won and there is some paperwork involved besides the application form.

You can be deported although, depending on the circumstances it is more likely that you would be fined and/or given an exit order - assuming you are LEGAL in all other respects of your status of sojourn.

You do NOT need to be caught in the act (a substantiated complaint against you is sufficient) and you are guilty until proven innocent (you're not in Kansas any more there Toto) - the onus is on you and NOT on immigration.

You will also get a black mark in your immigration file that WILL complicate any future visa applications here.
